Heads Down

Something else I noticed in my studies of people's walking. Many men and women seem to like walking with their heads down. What purpose does this serve? There are millions of pedestrians in the city so why wouldn't you look up to avoid some unfortunate collision. Furthermore, how much are you missing by keeping your eyes fixed on pavement? The love of your life might be around the corner. Maybe not but there's this naked cowboy in Times Square your definitely missing. Craning your neck upward won't hurt. Maybe at first but it really is more comfortable and advantageous.
